Winter here is long: January lows around 13 degrees, and frost possible from October into April. Summers are pleasant, with July highs in the upper 80s. Cold makes timing a bit less urgent, but a vehicle or a garage full of ski gear is no place to leave a body for days. Keep it inside in a cool room, and call early in case weather slows travel from the valley.
Round Valley's open-space trails, the Historic Union Pacific Rail Trail and the paths around Kimball Junction see local residents out with their animals in every season. A lot of that is protected open land, so scattering ashes there needs permission. Many residents keep the remains at home, or take a photo at a favorite overlook and frame it beside the urn instead.
